Capital Campaign Project

Press Release-Encore Update (12/31/23)

Tupper Arts is delighted to announce that the Encore Campaign to raise funds to purchase the Adirondack State Theater has been a huge success. The support from the community has been overwhelmingly strong. The anonymous matching donation of $75,000 has been met, even exceeding our goal of $200,000. Locals, visitors, and seasonal residents have stepped up to save this important resource in Tupper Lake. Tupper Arts will be closing on the property shortly and looks forward to beginning renovations on this iconic structure. Susan Delehanty, Chair of the Tupper Arts Board of Directors, expresses her gratitude to the community for making this campaign so successful, “ We are so grateful to everyone who has supported this cause. Thanks to their generosity, the Adirondack State Theater will be saved and will continue to serve the community for the next century.”

Tupper Arts is living its mission of nurturing the arts and artists in our community. In the few years since our conception, we have brought musical performances, exhibited individual art shows and the Tupper Lake Annual Arts Show, the Tupper Lake Plein Air Festival, Little Logger Kids Shows, dance classes, workshops and more!

None of this would have been possible without the tremendous support of our donors and community members.

Now we have an incredible opportunity to save The Adirondack State Theater. This iconic movie house has been in existence in Tupper Lake for over 100 years! Through a generous grant awarded to Tupper Arts by the New York State Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI), Tupper Arts will be able to renovate and upgrade the theater.

Before we can begin work on this project, we must first purchase the building. By investing $200,000, we can leverage $700,000 in DRI funds to put toward this restoration. The “Encore" Capital Campaign, will raise the funds for this purchase so we can begin its historical transformation.

With the advent of streaming platforms, rising costs and the aftermath of Covid-19, the future of modern commercial theaters is grim. Without Tupper Art's commitment to undertake the purchase and renovation of the State Theater, it may be lost forever.
