Summer Sunset Series

Tupper Arts' first ever Summer Sunset Series, originally slated for the brand new Lions Bandshell, had to be relocated to the Rotary Pavilion in Municipal Park for 2018 because the bandshell was not finished. That being said, this performance series was still a huge hit with Tupper Lakers and visitors alike, drawing an average audience of 50-60 adults, teens, and children (and even inviting some old-fashioned tailgating!).

Aside from the rescheduling of jazz group Moment's Notice because of weather (see the listing of fall events at the Tupper Arts Center) and the replacement of Crowfeather with an encore performance of Crackin' Foxy (Crowfeather canceled due to a new addition to a band member's family!), Mother Nature cooperated and produced several fun and entertaining sunset performances, including shows by the bands Open Container, Crackin' Foxy, Late Earth, Spring Street, and the Jones Boys with Brock Gonyea, as well as a July 3 program of American music by High Peaks Opera and other local singers, a show by the Guild of Thespian Puppets, and an abridged version of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing as part of the Adirondack Lakes Summer Theatre Festival.

Tupper Arts is deeply indebted to the Village of Tupper Lake for underwriting this series. Russell Feher did fantastic work on sound for all the bands, as well as the rescheduled concert by Moment's Notice in the new Arts Center.

Stay tuned for an even bigger and better Summer Sunset Series in 2019 -- at the new bandshell, which will DEFINITELY be completed!
