Reflections on Nature: Wings, Water, and Wilderness
Linda Riordan is originally from upstate New York. She and her family have spent many vacations in the Adirondacks. After a long search, they bought a property in Tupper Lake in 2013. When Linda is not hiking or kayaking on Tupper Lake, she is in her studio, painting with oils to capture the natural beauty of the lakes and animals that surround us. She particularly likes to play with the reflections of light and landscape on water. In Linda’s work, the echo of a reflection is sometimes more compelling than the image that created it. Many of Linda’s paintings hang in the camps of her neighbors and friends. Last summer, she donated a painting to the Adirondack Conservancy’s gala auction. This year, Linda has produced 31 works that she is generously donating to Tupper Arts. These paintings will be auctioned off in a silent auction during her show and Linda is donating all proceeds to Tupper Arts.
From the artist
I grew up in Potsdam NY, learned to ski at Big Tupper, and have always cherished the Adirondacks. I left for my education and physician training, specializing in pediatric pulmonology. I was working in a hospital when the Covid pandemic hit. Drawing and painting, especially Adirondack scenes, was my stress reliever…and it worked. When I paint, I become totally absorbed, losing all sense of time and worries. I feel so fortunate to have discovered this passion! I am honored to share my paintings at Tupper Arts, whose mission and activities I fully support. All proceeds from this show will be donated to Tupper Arts to celebrate and grow a vibrant arts community.
